LiDAR 3D Volume Measurement
Site LiDAR measures 3D volume and suggests pick/drop positions to assist crane and forklift automation.
Automatically measure the 3D volume and footprint of stockpiles, raw materials, waste, and pallets with LiDAR—no contact or stoppage required. Used for inventory, load analysis, and crane/forklift task planning.
What decides volume accuracy
LiDAR takes the ground as a reference plane, collects the stockpile surface as 3D coordinates, and integrates the volume between them. No one has to climb the pile, and no line has to stop for the measurement.
Accuracy is settled by installation conditions rather than sensor grade. Point density, how much of the pile is hidden behind structures, and how the empty-floor reference is established all drive error. Measuring from several viewpoints to reduce occlusion is therefore part of the design.
